OSCELOT Success Stories

The OSCELOT community has been very busy in the past year.  These are just a handful of our projects that we're delighted to share with the education community.

Sign-up Tool

Sign-up Tool is a custom content type, which allows students to sign up to events (e.g. tutorials) where places are limited. Instructors can add and remove users and use the list to populate new or existing groups in Blackboard. The Sign0up tool has had over 400 downloads! download

OSCELOT Podcaster Building Block

OSCELOT PODCASTER provides a single entry point for Faculty utilizing podcasts to deliver their lectures via Blackboard. It has had over 300 downloads and is currently running in production at University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Dartmouth College. download

Open Source Day II

The second annual Open Source Day was held at the MIT Stata Center.  Thirty participants gathered to learn about how the community can collaborate on a variety of different projects.  Keynote speaker, Jeff Merriman from MIT's Open Knowledge Initiative talked about open source development and how the O.K.I. OSIDs are enabling standards-based repository searches around the world.

Using Open Space Technologies, a methodology for community-building, collaboration and idea generation the conference participants brainstormed ideas, developed requirements and by the end of the conference a number of projects and teams were born.

Planning has already begun for Open Source Day III on July 13 in Las Vegas, Nevada preceding Bb Developers Conference (July 14-15) and BbWorld 2008 (July 15-18) in Las Vegas.
